THE Nor-West Jets will be doing their bit for men’s health when they hold their annual golf day at Riverside Oaks Golf Club on Friday, July 25.
The Jets’ major fundraiser has gathered steam this year and will double as a keynote vent for one of Australia’s biggest men’s health charities, the EJ Whitten Foundation.
The Foundation, which is named after the man known as Mr Football and one of the biggest names in the history of Australian Rules Football, was founded in 1995 shortly after his death from prostate cancer and raises money for research into a cure for the insidious disease.
Most of the profits will go to the Foundation, and with a massive day being planned by the Foundation’s Ted Whitten Junior, Jets’ president Jim Allan and Riverside Oaks’ general manager Pat Cunningham.
The feature of the event will be a charity luncheon following the golf which is set to feature two of the biggest names ever to pull on the red and white of the South Melbourne-Sydney Swans in triple Brownlow Medallist Bob Skilton and Sydney’s first captain Barry Round, while a long list of entertainers will ensure it will be a day to remember.
The golf tees off with a shotgun start at 8.30am with the luncheon, to also include a raffle and memorabilia auction, to follow in the Riverside Oaks Function Centre.
The Nor-West Jets Football Club is currently on the lookout for people or businesses willing to sponsor a massive event for a worthy cause.
Sponsorship packages range from $600 for an individual sponsor to $2400 for a Gold sponsorship package, while individual entries are now open at $160 per person, which includes golf with the chance to share in thousands of dollars in prizes, a sumptuous two-course luncheon with premium beverages and entry to the afternoon function.
