A LARGE group of the Kurrajong Training Squad members made the trip to Canberra for the first of the Australian Federation Race Walking Carnivals held on June 8.

There were some outstanding performances with many even medal-winning.

Highlights included World Junior representative Melissa Hayes taking out the U18 women’s 5km in a very fast time of 3m36s and backing up 10 minutes later to score a bronze medal in the Open Women’s 5km.

Beki Lee also did well winnning a silver medal in the Open Women’s 10 miles (16km) with a whopping 10 minute personal best.

Kyle Malone’s silver medal effort in the U18 Men’s 5km made for a memorable experience for the squad as did Nathan Fazldad scoring a bronze medal in the U14 boys 2km race.
